CLASSIFICATION: Cultural Textile Architecture (Artisanal and Ethical) CONSTRUCTION: Hand-Woven (Back-Strap Loom Technique) PROVENANCE: Santiago Atitlan, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala (Non-Profit Partnership) ROLE: Permanent Geometric and Cultural Anchor
This pillow is an artifact of high-integrity production, distinguished by its construction: it was woven by an artisan from the lakeside village of Santiago Atitlan using a back-strap loom, a time-honored, complex method of weaving.
The textile features a pattern that represents Santiago Atitlan’s traditional woven stripe, making the piece a direct link to the community's ancestral visual language.
Crucially, the production of this textile is anchored in ethical partnership with a non-profit organization on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. The acquisition of this piece directly supports the continuation of this community's generational weaving tradition.
