CLASSIFICATION: Reusable Drinking Instrument STYLE: Memphis Group Revival MATERIAL: Borosilicate Glass (Laboratory Grade) ROLE: The Cocktail Disruptor

Modernism preached that "form follows function." It resulted in a world of boring, straight lines. Postmodernism argued that form should have a sense of humor.

This collection is a rejection of the straight line. Crafted from high-grade borosilicate glass, these straws embrace the chaotic, ornamental energy of the 1980s Memphis Group. They are deliberately structural, featuring bends, loops, and bulbs that serve no hydraulic purpose other than to bring joy to the act of hydration.

They are functional art objects—a way to protest the austerity of a plain glass of water.

THE CURATOR'S NOTES

  • Material Engineering: These are not made of standard soda-lime glass, which shatters if you look at it wrong. They are crafted from Borosilicate—the same durable, thermal-shock-resistant glass used in chemistry beakers and Pyrex. They look fragile; they are tough.
  • The Artist Series: The designs are named in homage to the titans of the Postmodern movement. They are architectural gestures shrunk down to fit in a highball glass.
  • The Sustainability Angle: The plastic straw is a microplastic disaster that will outlive us all. These are the permanent alternative. They provide a smooth, clean mouthfeel that paper straws (which dissolve into mush) can never achieve.
  • Maintenance Protocol: While borosilicate is durable, the complex geometry makes them tricky for a dishwasher to navigate. Handwash them. Treat them like the sculpture they are.
