CLASSIFICATION: Hand-Woven Textile PROVENANCE: Xela, Guatemala TECHNIQUE: Traditional Footloom PALETTE: Full Spectrum | 9-Tone Pastel ROLE: The Chromatic Prism
Minimalism has stripped the color from our homes, leaving us in a sea of greige. The 'Maxine' cloth is the corrective measure.
Meticulously handwoven by artisans in Xela, Guatemala, this textile is a study in aggressive optimism. It rejects the safety of the single stripe, opting instead for a complex, nine-tone polychrome weave. It integrates Light Pink, Kelly Green, Periwinkle, Peach, Cream, Hyacinth, Yellow, Sky Blue, and Lilac into a single, vibrating structure.
It is a prism captured in cotton. It brings the full spectrum of light into the kitchen or bath, acting as an immediate visual reset for a room that takes itself too seriously.

THE CURATOR'S NOTES
- Loom Logistics: To weave nine distinct colors requires immense discipline. The weaver must manage a complex warping process to ensure the tension remains consistent across the varying dyed yarns. It is a technical feat disguised as a colorful towel.
- The "Kelly" Anchor: The genius of the palette lies in the Kelly Green. Without it, the pastels would float away into sweetness. The sharp, saturated green provides the necessary acidity to ground the design and give it a modern edge.
- Light Diffusion: Because of the pastel dominance, this textile reflects light. Placed in a dark powder room or a dim kitchen corner, it acts as a passive light source, brightening the surrounding space.
- Hydrophilic Evolution: Do not pamper it. Like all high-quality cottons, it is engineered for labor. The fibers will soften and bloom after the first wash, increasing in utility and comfort over time.
