Classification: Helianthus annuus (Heirloom) Structure: Fully Double | "Teddy Bear" Type Bloom Diameter: 5-7 Inches Height: 2–4 Feet
There is cute and then there is the Teddy Bear Sunflower. This plant does not understand the concept of serious.
While standard sunflowers are content to look like daisies, the Teddy Bear is an exercise in adoration. It produces fluffy, multi-flower heads—dense, spherical explosions of golden-yellow petals that resemble pom-poms. It is a texture so thick it looks almost upholstered.
Standing at a modest 2-4 feet, this is not a background plant; it is a friendly scattering of cheerfyl yardstakes. It creates an immediate sense of sweet, demanding that the rest of the garden orient itself around its presence.

The Curator’s Notes:
-
The Architecture: These blooms are full. At 5-7 inches across, they offer a density of color that standard single-petal varieties simply cannot achieve.
-
The Placement: These are friends that can live happily in a pot or a border. They are content to be a taller presence at the back or taking center stage.
-
Ecological Hub: The density of the bloom makes it a VIP lounge for pollinators. Expect a high volume of bees navigating the complex petals.
-
Structural Support: Vanity has a price. Because the heads are so massive, the stalks may require staking in high winds. Think of it as providing a crutch for its enormous ego.
-
The Cut: One stem is an arrangement. Two stems is a centerpiece. Three stems is a lifestyle statement.
