Glass is fragile; iron is permanent. This vessel operates on the principle that a centerpiece should have as much gravity as the room it occupies.

Modeled after the ceremonial trophy urns of the Neoclassical period, this piece is crafted from robust iron and finished with a dark, aggressive patina. It does not look like it was manufactured yesterday; it looks like it was dredged from a sunken galleon or excavated from a Roman villa.

The finish is a complex layering of distressed black, rust, and subtle flashes of bronze and gold that peek through the "decay." It creates a sense of history that mass-produced ceramics can never replicate.

THE CURATOR'S NOTES

• The Center of Gravity: At 16.5 inches in diameter, this is a bowl of significant volume. It is designed to hold sprawling, unstructured arrangements—moss mounds, dried hydrangeas, or cascading ivy. It demands a wide stance.
• The Finish Depth: The patina is not a flat color. It possesses a tactile, weathered quality that mimics decades of oxidation. It brings immediate "age" to a new construction home.
• Structural Stability: Unlike tall, tippy glass vases, this urn has a low center of gravity and significant weight. It anchors a dining table or console with absolute authority.
• The Trophy Silhouette: The ornate handles and wide mouth give it a ceremonial presence. Even when empty, it functions as a piece of sculpture. It does not need flowers to justify its existence.
